DeviantArtists Questionnaire

Journal Entry: Fri Aug 7, 2015, 8:52 AM

How long have you been on DeviantArt?
Hmm.  About 8 years now, I suppose.

What does your username mean?
Nothing, really

Describe yourself in three words.
Tenacious, loyal, and creative.

Are you left or right handed?
Right handed

What was your first deviation?
Ducati Monster by ShadeGlass Still really impressed that I did this with a mouse in Illustrator.

What is your favourite type of art to create?
I still really love traditional art, mostly pencil and paper.  I love the way it looks and feels.

If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
Sculpting.  There's something to be said about creating a tactile object that you can turn around and see from all angles that came from a block, be it clay, sculpy, marble, etc.

What was your first favourite?
A Little Rain of September by bdog-wings I love, even now, the soft feel of this picture, like you really are looking down through a haze of rain.  Certainly helps that the two girls in the picture look so jubilant about standing in the rain.

What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
Digital.  I really respect people who can create without having to 'feel' their canvas.  That, and there is so much amazing art out there done by artists that just blow me away using the digital medium.

Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
Ooo, tough call.  There's so many amazing artists that I've discovered since joining DA that it is difficult to pin down just one.

If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?
DarkSunRose  Granted, I did get to meet her at Fanime this year in San Jose, I was too unprepared to fully enjoy it since half the time I was going 'OMG!' in my head.  I've been such a fan since coming across her work and I've just adore her Above the Clouds comic.  I'd like to re-meet her and not be fan-girling in my head the whole time and be able to hold a conversation.

How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
Another tough question.  There's a fair amount of deviants that have impacted my life.  I mean, if I'm feeling uninspired or unmotivated to create something, I log in and browse through the new pieces that were uploaded both by artist I want and those I don't and a lot of the time, I get motivated to do something.  If I had to pick just one, I would say SenshiStock.  I have used so many of her stock photos to create pieces that there are days when I wonder what I ever did without her stock to assist.

What are your preferred tools to create art?
An assortment of mechanical pencils and my Moleskine sketchbook.  Lately I've been indulging my digital side on my tablet by using Mischief.

What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
At home, on my couch, with my headphones in.  I don't happen to be able to do that lately, so it's become that much more of a place for me to create.

What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
Pleading the 5th on this one. ;)

Happy birthday, DA!  It's been fun to be apart of this site as it has grown in that 15 years; while things have certainly changed since I signed up so long ago, I can see that this is still a place for a creative collective to come together, share their work, grow and discover new people and things.  Cheers for keeping it up this long and here's to hoping it continues to be this strong in the future.

Lurking, waiting, watching by ShadeGlass
Lurking, waiting, watching
This is a piece that I was working on that I sat back at the end an was impressed by my tiger. Animals are not, generally, my forte. Instead, it's 'gore' that I now need to work on, apparently.  A deeply personal piece for me.
'I'll wait for you. Lurking in the dark, pacing about, waiting for the doubt and sadness to reach that tipping point. Waiting for the moment when you are vulnerable, weak, and unaware.

When I'm ready, I'll pounce, devour everything good in you, swallowing it into the darkness that you cringe to look in to. When the ravages are done, your frail soul and emotions exposed and frayed, your wounds weeping, and voice silenced, I'll wait still, covering over your dying breaths till you give up. Then, when you're at the edges of despair, I'll slink back into the dark, waiting and watching. Waiting to see if you'll be able to come back from this darkness, if you will heal and find yourself again; if you can rise up out of the shame of your defeat to battle again. If not, I'll whisk you into the darkness that no one wants to look upon with the care you have earned. There, I will carry your soul home.'
